SAPB debuts Holidaze: A Semester-Ender De-Stressing Event
On Thursday, December 2, our Festivals Committee successfully held their first Holidaze event in University Undergrounds for students to destress during finals week and get into the holiday spirit!
This festive event featured a cookie decorating contest, a smores bar, a hot chocolate bar, tons of sweet treats and candy, and a showing of the movie “Elf” to ring in the holiday season!
Special thanks to our SAPB Festival’s chair, Katrina Chan and our Vice Festival’s chair, Sherry Huang, for organizing this opportunity for students to take a break from studying for finals and get excited about the holidays.

According to Katrina, the festivals committee is responsible for organizing some of the biggest on campus events, such as Fall Fest, Holidaze and Spring Fling.
“My favorite part about organizing this event was putting together the food list. I got to order a ton of sweet things, like the smore’s bar, hot chocolate bar and cookie decorating kits, which was a lot of fun!” she said.
We had an amazing turnout of students who were excited to not only take a break from studying, but watch one of their favorite movies.
According to sophomore Amy Held, the best part of the event was watching Elf and meeting other students who also liked the movie. “I came because Elf is my favorite movie, and I love free cookies!” she said. “It’s great to meet all these people who also enjoy Elf and have that common interest.”
Others enjoyed all the free goodies Holidaze had to offer!
“I heard about this event from my friend who snapchatted me and showed me there were free cookies and hot chocolate at Union,” said freshman Greg Botwinick.
“These events are really well planned and a lot of fun. You get to meet a lot of new people too.”
As the semester comes to a close, be sure to look out for all the amazing events our talented team is preparing for the spring semester.
“Our events are specifically catered to what the students want and ask for,” said our Fundraising and Collaborations Director, Sarah Crawford. “Events like Holidaze always end up being so much fun and have a lot of snacks, and they’re a great break in the day.”
